    IT Senior Manager, Test Environment Management

    This IT senior manager position is responsible for the team members, governance, processes, controls and tools for managing our multiple test environments that support Allianz Life software delivery.  Processes include: Test Environment Planning and Support, Configuration, Deployment and Change Management for Test Environments, Software Configuration Management and Test Data Support.  This role also owns our source code management tools and software build tools.  This senior manager has direct responsibility for a team of employees as well as vendor partner resources (both on and offshore), and is part of a high performing IT Quality Services leadership team, including Quality Assurance leaders.

    Outcomes expected include: high quality of test environment management and support, effective resource management, high employee satisfaction and engagement, and continuous improvement for test environment capability effectiveness and efficiency.

    Key Requirements/Skills/Experience


    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field
    • 6-7 years of experience leading people and contributing to project delivery
    • Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience with ITIL
    • Software test environment experience preferred, including environment planning and management for multiple test environments; environment configuration, deployment and test data management
    • Experience with enterprise code management tools and tools to support the test environment management processes
    • Solid technical background, including knowledge of system design concepts, software development processes, and ITIL tools and processes
    • Experience re-engineering processes and leading process improvement teams
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple levels of management
    • Demonstrated experience in people leadership and performance management skills
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and teaming skills; solid ability to work with and build strong IT, vendor and business partner relationships
    • Strong customer focus and sense of urgency
    • Strong project management, communications, and facilitation and negotiating skills within cross functional teams


    • Experience with supporting multiple SDLC methodologies (waterfall, iterative, scrum/agile, etc.)
    • DevOps Experience

    Key Responsibilities

    Delivery (makes up 30-40% of time)

    Deliver projects, solutions and IT services in support of approved business and technology driven portfolios of work. Deliver solutions that meet functional requirements, meet delivery schedules, within cost projections, and are of high quality. Able to prepare and present IT solution recommendations, status updates, and business value propositions to the highest levels of business and IT leadership.

    Platform Availability and Stability (makes up 10-20% of time)

    Ensure supported IT systems are stable and available. Take action to ensure platforms supported are stable and available. Ensure currency of upgrade path is consistent with IT strategy and business expectations. Plan for capacity, volume growth, retirement, SLA, and OLA's.

    Manage staff, forecast and budgets (makes up 10-15% of time)

    Direct and build high performing team. Ensure EE engagement is maintained at high levels. Manage to approved budget levels. Understand and know costs of delivery or services provided. Ensure EE development plans are set and achieved.

    Business of IT (makes up 10-25% of time)

    Leverages multi-vendor partner relationships and ensures high performing vendor deliveries. Collaborates and actively supports other IT functions to ensure overall IT success. Understands IT industry best practices, standards, and resources (Gartner,vendors, etc) to ensure continuous optimization of IT delivery effectiveness. Ensure overall success of IT delivery and meet customer expectations. Comply with process and control requirements. Understand and support the AZL mission, goals, and priorities.

    Plan future (makes up 10-20% of time)

    Interacts with IT and business leadership to contribute to the IT strategic plan, project portfolio plans, division, department, and individual goals that contribute to the success of Allianz and IT. Be innovative and plan for continuous improvement. Monitor and adjust goals and plan consistent with business and IT leadership expectations.
